Startup Mode Selector made in REALbasic line

Startup Mode Selector is a application that allows Mac OS users to switch quickly between 32 and 64-bit Kernel mode. Markus Winter, the author of the app, created SMS in REALbasic. The app is free but all donation are welcome. 100% of them go to the relief project “India’s Street Kids”.

Startup Mode Selector features:

Startup Mode Selector made in REALbasic

  • - it shows whether you have a 32-bit or a 64-bit processor
  • - it shows whether you have a 32-bit or a 64-bit EFI
  • - it shows whether the MacOS X Kernel is set to boot in 32-bit or in 64-bit mode
  • - it shows whether the MacOS X Kernel is running in 32-bit or in 64-bit mode
  • - it shows whether Apple officially supports booting a 64-bit kernel on your Mac
  • - it allows you to select whether you want to start the MacOS X Kernel in 32-bit or in 64-bit mode (the setting might be ignored on MacBooks, depending on how Apple implements the restriction)
  • - accompanying webpage explains what the whole commotion about 32-bit and 64-bit in MacOS X Snow Leopard is about

    Hi,

Might be nice to have an email to send stuff! Just wanted to say thank you for the site. It looks great and I have to admit that in just two tutorials I got more help than with the RB User´s Guide!

    Cheers,

Hi and thank you Nathan for good word :) What do you mean by “Might be nice to have an email to send stuff” ?

  3. Nathan says:

WOW! That was a quick response! That the only way communicate with you is via this blog. I would like to have an email to communicate. Also, in a couple of places it mentions that you need to be signed in, but I could not find where…

    Cheers mate!

    Hey Jakub

    Hope you’re doing well.

I had an idea for a tutorial (custom control):

I’d really love to have a custom control like on the ipad: http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/1919/popupk.png (sketch)

How could I do that when clicking on a button or on a canvas that such a “box” with any possible content (in my example a listbox) would appear below it? This would be very nice for example for a date picker, or as a nice alternative to a popup menu! What do you think? Would this be easy to do?

    Thanks!
    Alex

When is more coming? For once, I extended my subscription but will feel forced to cancel my premium users subscriotion if there’s nothing new…

    Jakub,

Lots of great stuff here. Is the source available? I have seen references to becoming a member to have access to source code, but I don’t see any link on the site related to becoming a member. Can you advise?

    Thanks,
    Will
